I am combining the topics from the previous week and this week and I am going to talk about a building/place that has brought me a memorable experience along with something that I love about Colorado that inspires me. From the pictures above you may be able to guess that this place in Colorado has been memorable for me as well as a place that has inspired my creativity.
I have lived in Colorado my entire life but it wasn't until late high school that I started going to Larimer Square that often. Larmier Square is known as a historic block located in Denver and it is the city's first designated local historic district. These pictures that I have incorporated within this post were taken late this summer around the time when Larmier Square opened back up due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As you can see, the signs that are hanging above the block say "Welcome back Denver" and "Together starts here." These signs made my first experience back to Larmier Square in months very memorable. This block is right near The CU Denver Campus and so I have spent a lot of time here during school time. I miss being on-campus and going to Larmer Square often. So being able to visit it now makes me happy.
During these times of the pandemic, we all have felt a small amount of isolation, and being able to safely return to a place such as Larmier Square certainly feels good! In addition, there are sections of art drawn on the road where you were able to walk along. From a distance, you would just assume that these are just art pieces that have been drawn on the road. However, the art pieces such as the leaves that can be seen in the second picture above are actually drawn to direct the walking traffic. Typically now when you go to places there are cones or signs on the ground to direct one-way traffic to promote social distancing in places such as stores or outside venues. However, on the road at Larmier Square, these symbols to direct one-way traffic to promote safety are art pieces. In my opinion, this was a very unique and creative idea rather than putting up cones or simply drawing arrows on the ground. In a way, the leaves made the social distancing a more positive thing in my opinion. Now when I go places I can't help but think about how a certain place could be creative in their own ways of promoting social distancing during this time.
This is awesome! Denver and Colorado are great places. I would not want to live anywhere else in the world! I also being on campus because Denver is a vibrant city with so much art and lifestyle. I think Colorado is doing great with enforcing COVID guidelines and I think we will emerge victorious in this battle of health and safety of our Colorado community.
